Principal Update

QUEST Families,

I hope the month of November finds you and your family well, with plenty to feel grateful for. As we close out the first marking period, the day-to-day at QUEST has been quite busy but productive. Please take the time to review all the information found in the blog for this month.

Report Card Conversations

Your child's term 1 report card will be available for you to view, within the Campus Backpack, on November 30th. Report cards are a chance to have reflective conversations that are focused on growth. As always, I would encourage you to have a conversation with your child about their report card. Some suggested conversation prompts are below.

  • What are you most proud of this term?
  • What ways did you show growth?
  • What is an area or two where you want to improve during the next marking period?
  • What IB Learner Profiles did you use this marking period that helped you to be successful?
  • At the three-way conference we discussed goals. How might your goals help you succeed?

Read-a-thon: Twenty Thousand!?

It is always unreal when our community rallies and works together toward a goal. This was on display at our most recent fund-raiser, where our school surpassed our goal and brought in $24,000. This is impressive, and our PTSO is beyond appreciative of the efforts to support their budget. Our school is founded on rich traditions, all of which our PTSO supports in various ways! Thank you for your efforts around the recent fund-raiser.

IB Profile of the Month: Open-Minded

The IB Learner Profiles are our success toolbox if we are going to be internationally minded, action-oriented, thriving people. Each profile is meant to stretch both students and adults!

The month of November our school community is honing in on being open-minded. I would challenge you to have conversations with your children regarding what being open-minded looks like for you. Do you have to use this profile at your work place? With family and friends? When navigating the world? Thank you for helping to share your adult expertise on this profile with your child.

๐ŸŽ‰Half Days on 11/15 and 11/22 ๐ŸŽ‰

Just a reminder that 11/15 and 11/22 are half days of school for our students. If you are picking your child up, please do your best to notify our attendance office @ questattendance@hilton.k12.ny.us the night before.

As always, please know that the QUEST community is grateful for the partnerships we have with our families. If we can be of any support or assistance to you and your family, please do not hesitate to reach out.

With gratitude,

Derek Warren

Student Council Elections

On Election Day, the QUEST student body voted for this year's student council officers. It was a close race all around! The following are the results:

President: Elise Pestilli

Vice President: Michael Mammarello

Secretary and Treasurer: Lulu Tracey and Elsa Langswager

We are proud of all of the risk takers who ran for an officer position! All candidates who ran are automatically welcome to join our student council group as representatives. Also, each classroom will select a classroom representative to join our team. We are excited to get started!

Special Area News

 DANCE PLANNER BEGINS THIS WEEK!

Starting on Monday, November 14th, all of QUEST will be participating in the Dance Planner!

● Wear SNEAKERS everyday!

● Students will report to the GYM during PE and Music class.

● ART and SPANISH will continue as normal.

Art:

Art class continues to be a blast! Intermediates are moving on to our Culture Planner where we

connect to Ancient Egypt and use hieroglyphics in our artwork. The kiln has been fired up so

Elementary and Primary can create projects with clay, and Kindergarten is wrapping up their

PATTERN projects!

Spanish:

In Spanish our planner is called Soy especial - I am special! At the Kindergarten level, we are

learning to introduce ourselves. Primary and Elementary students are creating a poster page

including descriptions and things they like to do. We are working toward a memorized

presentation at the Intermediate level.
