Families,
Cohort 2 has a half day on 11/24. It is considered a conference day. As a reminder:
If you need picture retakes please fill out the below google form.
Election News: After a tight race for student council officer positions, the results are in! The student body of QUEST practiced their voting right and elected the following representatives for student council this year:
President - Lilianna DiSalvo
Vice President - Brianna Sadecki
Secretary/Treasurer: Penelope Tracey
Thank you to all of the risk takers who ran for office this
year! In addition to our officers, student council is also comprised of
classroom representatives. Congratulations to all of our new
members of student council. We look forward to a great year of representing the
amazing students of QUEST!
You received a very important email outlining steps that you need to take to let us know whether you want your child(ren) to continue with their current learning model – hybrid or fully remote. Please read the email carefully and complete the steps to select hybrid or fully remote for each child no later than Friday, Nov. 20. Here is that email for your reference:
November 6, 2020
Dear Parent/Guardian:
As we plan for the second semester that begins on Monday, Feb. 1, we need information from all families, K-12, in order to prepare. Over the summer, families selected either the hybrid or remote option for the first semester with the understanding that this decision would be revisited later in the year. That said, we are asking that you give careful consideration to which model makes the most sense for your child(ren) moving forward.
For continuity and planning purposes, we discourage families from switching between models unless it is absolutely necessary. Some families, for example, may consider a different model if they have a change in family or job circumstances. For those families considering moving from the hybrid to the remote cohort, please be aware that, given the nature of remote learning, most teaching will be delivered using technology,.
If it is necessary to make a change, please be aware of the following implications:
Elementary students (Grades K-6) may need to be assigned to a new teacher and have new classmates, including special education. In some cases, fully remote students may have a teacher from another school in the district.
Secondary students (Grades 7-12) almost certainly will have new teachers and classmates. Student schedules will change, including special education. Certain courses available in one model may not be available in the other due to staffing constraints. For that reason, some students may need to drop a class if they change to a different model.
If switching from fully remote to the hybrid model, your specific cohort will be assigned at a later date. It will not necessarily be the cohort that was previously shared in August.
Unfortunately, the movement of students may necessitate schedule and teacher changes, even for students not making a change, because a small number of student changes can have a significant impact on the comprehensive school schedule and teacher assignments. Please know we will make every effort to avoid this to the greatest extent possible.
Please make a commitment by Friday, November 20 to indicate whether your child will be a remote or a hybrid learner from February through the end of the school year. If you have multiple children, please make a commitment for each child. To make your commitment, please follow the directions in the video link below.

Please know that regardless of how many students select a different learning model, carrying out the necessary adjustments will require significant time, coordination and effort for district staff. Thank you for your continued support as we plan for the second semester. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Mr. Kirk Ashton, Northwood Elementary Principal
Mr. Marc D’Amico, Merton Williams Middle School Principal
Dr. Jeffrey Green, Hilton High School Principal
Dr. Benjamin Rudd, Village Elementary Principal
Mr. Derek Warren, QUEST Elementary Principal
As Dr. Kosiorek shared in his email, starting 12/2 we will welcome students back to school on Wednesdays on an alternating basis. Wed 12/2 we will welcome Cohort 1 students and then the following Wednesday 12/9 will be Cohort 2 students and so on.
Please know that in each of the three instances of a positive COVID-19 case across the district since school started, the individuals contracted COVID-19 outside of school, but because of proper masking and social distancing, the virus was not passed within the school. Masking and social distancing strategies are working and have allowed us to continue with our hybrid model.
The link below includes information that was sent to all families on Thursday, November 5, regarding the district's Chromebook protection plan information that is available to families.
