Principal Update

QUEST Families,

I don't know about you, but this weather has added to the excitement and the hope that spring is, perhaps, just around the corner. Your children--our learners--are doing a great job at exemplifying our IB Learner Profiles, and I am proud of the hard work we are seeing on behalf of our students. Enjoy the blog for the month of February!

Portfolio Share? When and Why?

QUEST aims to have students be agents of their own learning. One way we accomplish this is through a portfolio share. In late February, or early/mid-March, teachers have students share a portfolio with their parents. This is accomplished in many ways: the child may bring home the portfolio to share and work with you on reflecting; the teacher may request a Zoom or a conference with the home where the child will share; in some cases a child may make something digital.

Regardless of the sharing method, the goal stays the same: the students reflect on their learning, their goals, and show evidence of growth toward their goals. This ownership is part of how we foster agency. Please join me in celebrating growth this month as your child shares their portfolio with you.

Sled Race

Sleds are ready but mother nature is not. We are currently waiting for some snow in order to have our sled race; however, please know that we will do it no matter what. There was a year a long time ago where the school needed to do it in the auditorium--I'm not sure what that will look like, but I'm keeping my mind open! Once we get some snow and are ready to go we will share out details.

As always, please reach out should you have any questions. Have a fabulous February break!

Keep learning,

Derek Warren
